This book probably deserves four stars for its importance, but three is more realistic for the amount I enjoyed it. I found most of the topics very interesting, from the "heroification" of early American explorers and leaders to the correlation between students' social class and test scores. This book had a huge impact on me and will definitely influence the way you look at America's educational system and history, but there are still some rather dry parts that could have been explained more simply. Or maybe my American History education was just so bad that I need an even more dumbed-down book.
